Im writing this from the Tokoriki restaurant which abuts a calm sea with a view of the island where Tom Hanks hung out with a volleyball in Castaway. But it is not the view (which is spectacular), or the large villas right on the beach (which are amazing) that make this place a 5-star experience. What makes this place a 5-star paradise is the staff.
Somehow EVERYONE knows your name immediately. This in itself is quite a feat because the staff outnumbers the guests. (Someone really knows their Dale Carnagie!) They greet every guest with a welcome song and announce every guests departure at dinner accompanied by a good-bye song.
It rained quite a bit while we were here, but we did sneak in some incredible snorkling just yards from the hotel. My only tiny complaint is that it would be nice if they offered some relevant exercise classes--Im thinking like yoga or mindfulness--but I imagine that is on the way since they are in the process now of building a gym.
As Im writing this another helicopter just landed carrying new guests...cant wait to see their reaction when the entire staff shows up to welcome them!
