This is a tough one to rate- on the one hand, the staff is extremely friendly and service oriented, which is awesome. On the other hand- it desperately needs a refresh. It just looks so run down and tired. The sense you get is that you are maybe one step above a hostel. No shade on hostels, but I wasn’t looking for a hostel… The rooms are spacious, though, as well as the bathroom, and the body care is excellent. And the pineapple obsession is amusing. However, the bathrooms needs more surfaces to put everyone’s toiletry bags on, and the shower needs a bit more shelving as well for your shower accessories and face wash. Ultimately, I wouldn’t actively not stay here again, so I left it at four stars, but I honestly wouldn’t actively look to stay here again, either. I was torn between 3 and 4 stars, but there’s no 3.5, and the staff were amazing, so four it is. In terms of logistics- it is a quick walk to the pier (we were taking a cruise the following morning). They do offer a shuttle for $10pp (for the Pier, they offer other destinations at other price points, as well), which I’m very glad I didn’t fall for- the walk is simple and it is *not* crazy uphill as they try to tell you- it’s maybe mildly uphill at first and then actually crazy *down* hill! However- it’s not a ‘pretty’ walk- you will definitely pass a few individuals who have not had the opportunity to shower in a *while*. So if *that’s* a big concern for you, then maybe take them up on the shuttle.

As a husband and father, my priority when traveling is keeping my wife and children safe and comfortable. Unfortunately, our stay at the Hotel Five a Pineapple Hotel in Seattle turned a family trip into a very stressful experience and ruined our last day in a beautiful city.

We made a simple reservation mistake and ended up one night short. I was unaware of my mistake until the hotel manager called. I assumed it could be fixed if the hotel had availability. Instead, while we were at the Seattle Zoo, the manager called and told us we had to leave right away because the hotel was full to capacity and our type of room was booked. I checked online and found multiple rooms still available, including our room type, so that claim was not true and a blatant lie.
To avoid leaving my family without a room, I booked another hotel right away. About twenty minutes later, the manager called back and said we could stay after all because someone had canceled. That only made the situation more frustrating.
Why the backtrack after all the stress and aggrevation. Why the lies to begin with. We are a family traveling with kids!
What bothered me most was the lack of accountability. There was no sincere apology or effort to make things right. Good hotels treat guests with honesty and respect, and this one did not.
I work hard for my money and expect professional treatment. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend the Hotel Five Pineapple Hotel. Seattle has many better options stay elsewhere.
