It’s a beautiful property but so outdated. I felt that most of the staff was completely “checked out” - pun intended.
I had a simple request that I asked the concierge 3 nights in a row and not one time was it ever handled. I really just don’t get it. Half of the time our room was fully serviced and the other half not. Coffees not replenished, etc. Breakfast was probably the worst food I have ever had. The server could not understand our words for bread or toast, even when we used Spanish and made no attempt to ask for assistance or clarification. Just pretended the order was never made I guess. Baffling.

Great room, building and breakfast. The staff is very kind on an individual basis.

The feeling though is of a poorly run hotel: my room was only ready nearly 2 hours after check in time; my suitcase took two hours more to be delivered and required 2 phone calls to the reception desk; one of my two bags was sent to my mother’s room; the staff at the main bar in the afternoon was rushed and slow; both the Nespresso machine and the scale in my room didn’t work; no cups for coffee and no complimentary water were delivered until I asked.

Nice place, no doubt, but too chaotic to justify the price tag and the historical prestige of the property. On this basis, I wouldn’t return.
