Neither of our rooms were ready when wr arrived at just before 4PM.

It was clear that something wasnt right, as the staff were whispering back and forth. The check-in process for the first room took 30 minutes & the second room wasnt available until 1.5hrs later.

By way of apology, we were provided with a room upgrade, two massage vouchers, and a 1-hour late check-out. This was a great gesture and much appreciated, as it put our stay back on track.

The stay itself was very nice. The hotel is lovely, the pool is great, the buffet breakfast is excellent, and the staff throughout the property were friendly. However, please note there is an enormous development site directly next to the property, so some rooms look directly onto it and it may become noisy in the future.

Unfortunately, checking out was an even bigger shambles than checking in. We were locked out of our room because, despite the agreed-upon late check-out, the system hadnt been updated. As part of our Hotels.com booking, we were entitled to a 20% Food & Beverage discount per room.

Because of the admin mess at check-in, the front desk could not figure out how to apply the discount. Resolving this took another 30 minutes, we ultimately left with only a part of the discount applied. Because we had a flight to catch, we couldnt spend any more time trying to rectify it.

Overall, the front desk was terribly disorganized, making the arrival and departure experiences incredibly frustrating.

The hotel and the room itself were okay. The problem was the beach. The beach is really not suitable for swimming – it is very dirty. It’s a public beach, and on both sides there are water sports facilities. There are stray dogs everywhere, and you don’t feel safe at all. On top of that, the swimming pool was also very dirty and not properly cleaned. Furthermore, the restaurant and the staff at the poolside restaurant seemed completely overwhelmed. It took them a very long time to come, and the portions were so small that you would have to order two dishes right away.

We stayed at Sakala for 6 nights. We reserved a room with view to pool. That was on the 5th floor and we had to walk endless hallways to reach our room. In this hotel I advice to choose access to pool -room, because the pool area is wonderful. The Sakala resort area was very big, and to go to Sakala beach club you need to cross a very busy road. There is hotel personnel to quide you over, but good to know before choosing where to stay. Breakfast was good, but to get coffee from the barista area it took so long that the coffee was cold when served. Also the breakfast room was so huge and diveded into three different areas, so picking toast, omelets, fruits, juice and what ever you wanted to have took many steps and many minutes. Personnel were very polite, and it was easy to get lunch or beveridges from different bars in the resort. Rooms were a bit gloomy with dark floor materials and as the rooms were all very big, they also were chilly. Also Sakala is situated in quite remote area, so there were not many nice places outside Sakala to go for dinner or to do some shopping.

he facilities were clean and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The rooms were cleaned daily, and the mineral water bottles were replaced daily.
The breakfast was fantastic with lots of choice in a pleasant atmosphere.
The only negative is a meal served to my friend at the beach club restaurant, he did not like it. However, this experience was made up for later when we ate at the Indonesian restaurant, the food was excellent, but the best thing was Rinis service, with her kindness and sense of humor. Rini made our experience extraordinary.
