Overpriced with disappointing maintenance and service

We stayed at Holiday Ao Nang Beach Resort Krabi for 14 nights. The beachfront location and large pool area are nice, but the stay felt overpriced for the high room rate.
Food and drinks were significantly overpriced. A small 0.33l Singha beer was listed as 155++ THB and totalled 181 THB after tax and service — more than four times the normal supermarket price (35–45 THB).
The kids’ water park did not match the photos: no trampoline, one slide missing, and the remaining slides had worn paint and a very rough surface, causing skin abrasions on our children. These issues could easily have been fixed.
Service was inconsistent. While the cleaning staff were friendly, many others had poor English and varying attitudes. We had confirmed a buffet dinner the day before, but it was cancelled without notice and we received a condescending response when we asked.
The free Kids Club had limited and worn-out activities, and the Kids’ Corner charged extra for nearly everything. Breakfast was repetitive with the same Thai and Indian dishes daily.
We also experienced noise every evening until 23:00 from music at a nearby nightclub/hotel.
Overall, the resort has potential, but the high price is not justified due to poor slide maintenance, misleading advertising, overpriced food/drinks, inconsistent service, and evening noise. Significant improvements are needed, especially on the waterslides.

This was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we’ve had. The room had a very strong moldy smell that was impossible to ignore and made it uncomfortable to stay in the room for long periods. For a hotel that markets itself as a 5-star property, this is completely unacceptable.

Even more concerning was the cleanliness of the bathroom. The shower, bathtub, and toilet were visibly dirty and clearly had not been cleaned to an acceptable standard before our arrival. Hygiene is the most basic expectation in any hotel, and certainly in one claiming a 5-star rating.

The overall condition of the hotel feels extremely outdated and poorly maintained. While this property may have deserved a 5-star rating many years ago, today it unfortunately does not even meet the standards of a typical 2-star hotel.

We hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the cleanliness and maintenance issues urgently, because the current condition does not match the expectations set by the hotel’s advertised rating.

We had an outstanding family stay at the Holiday Ao Nang Beach Resort. If you are traveling with children, this is the place to be. The breakfast spread was amazing, and the staff truly stood out—they were extremely kind and went out of their way to be helpful throughout our stay.

Location: It’s in a perfect spot. You arent in the noisy center of Ao Nang, but it’s only a 5-minute Tuk Tuk ride or a scenic 15-minute walk with a stroller to reach the city center.

Beach & Snorkeling: The local beaches are nice for relaxing, but not for snorkeling. For that, I recommend taking a boat to Poda Island—it’s the closest and best spot for seeing fish. I did scuba dive in Phi Phi, but be aware it can be challenging with small children on the boat. If snorkeling is your primary goal, Koh Lanta is a great alternative, but for a family-friendly resort experience in Krabi, this hotel is top-tier.
