Most enjoyable stay for so many reasons. While the property is a bit dated, it is very well maintained. It is rather out of the way, but the fact it is nestled between the sea in the front and forest behind, I did not mind the drive. You can experience either the serenity of the sea or sounds of the forest, depending on the chalet you choose to stay in. Housekeeping is excellent, services offered is extensive, food quality and options are amazing, staff is consistently friendly and accommodating. Many small things like loanable amenities, having two sinks in the bathroom, refillable minibar, generous bathroom, no plastic bottles used, balcony with a sunset view, ever present security guards etc. made our stay so very memorable.

We had a rainforest chalet fairly near reception, we rarely stay in resorts so we dont really have anything to compare this too but we absolutely loved it. The room was lovely, they left a little present for our toddler which was a lovely touch. The minibar being stocked each day was fab too. Absolutely loved being in the rainforest, the wildlife was amazing and the free evening nature walk was a real highlight, the guide was so knowledgeable and very accommodating. The pool area was great, beach gorgeous with views to all the hills behind. Its quite remote so if you want to travel around youd need a car but we got a grab easily up to oriental village when we ate a few times as food in the hotel is expensive. We got 3 meals and 3 drinks at oriental village for the same price as one meal in the hotel. Breakfast is wonderful though, so much choice. We used the beach restaurant for breakfast and were usually the only ones in there first thing. It seemed really quiet overall, not sure if its usually like this or if we really lucked out!

Positives:
We initially booked a flight and accommodation package through Wotif but upgraded the second half of our 8 day stay to the water chalet. Both areas were beautiful and unique, but the water chalet was truely sublime.
Too bad you cant jump into the sea from your room. Or any of the water chalets for that matter.

Staff were excellent, always courteous and very friendly.

Free shuttle was fantastic and prompt. Drivers were safe and skilled.

Negatives:
Need to pay extra for all other hire activities that should be free given the expense of the room: canoe, body board, pool toys, pool table, table soccer, fishing rod.

Not resort related, but also be aware when you book tours, you need to pay for additional activities (canoe, life jackets, snorkels, toilet, everything else that isnt the tour). Eg: if you booked a snorkeling tour this wont include lifejacket hire for swimming, snorkels, beach lounge/shade, etc.

It was explained differently to us but when you check in, you will need to pay additional tax per day of stay, but also a RM700 deposit. Money isnt taken out at this point but its used as a room tab. The final amount will be deducted from your credit card at the end of your stay plus any owing.
Refunds of unused deposit may take up to 1 month - which is strange as the money isnt taken out initially.

All in all a restorative and luxurious island vacation. Great for couples and families.
