Nagoya City Science Museum is located in Shirakawa Park. It is next to Nagoya City Museum of Arts. And, Shirakawa Park is a large park located in a famous commercial area, Sakae. It is the center of Nagoya.

We can see a very big silver sphere between towers. It is a feature of the building of Nagoya City Science Museum. And, the big sphere is a planetarium and one of highlights of this museum. From 1962 to 2010, more than 15 million people visited the planetarium. And, in 2011, the planetarium was improved with the latest technology.
The diameter of the dome became 35 meters. The scale is the largest in the world. And, it proves highest quality images. Although the planetarium itself was revamped, a curator has been narrating since 1962.

As for space, there are some facilities of MHI (Mitsubishi Heavy Industry) in Aichi prefecture. MHI is a company which launches rockets into space every year in Japan. But, unfortunately, there is not a good facility opened to public in Aichi. In Yokohama, there is a museum of MHI. And, In Tanegashima Space Center, some events take place.

We can see a rocket in front of Nagoya City Science Museum. And, there are many exhibitions about space. Although space seems to be one of important subjects, this museum is about science overall.

We can enjoy experiencing some equipment and understand the principle and applications of science. And also, we can learn the relationship between scientific technology and human being. And also, some exhibitions are about the problems facing society to use scientific technology like environmental issues. Here is a lifelong learning facility.

There are large exhibitions which we can not see easily in other places.
At Exploring Water, we can see each stage for clouds, rainfall, rivers and oceans. At Tornado Lab, we can see 9 meter tornado generation. At, Electric discharge Lab, we can see bolts twisting around in the air. At Deep Freezing Lab, we can see a complete real aurora in the room at -30 degree. And, we can watch a variety of real ice.

In each floor, there are many other exhibitions and equipment which we can see, experience, enjoy and learn about science. And, a live experiment show is taking place. So, please visit this museum and be more familiar with science.
