The super grocery shop in Japan

  • Shopping

You might have heard of the name of this store as a “must-go” place in Japan, and if you haven’t been there yet, you should visit at least once.

Don Quijote is a kind of jack-of-all-trades, which sells everything from groceries to bikes. You’ll become more motivated to buy as many things as you can, as you see the piles of products and hand written POSs all over. Everything we need is packed into several floors.

Recently among Japanese and non-Japanese who live in Japan, costumes for Halloween have been selling well. For tourists from overseas, Japanese snacks and cosmetics are popular as souvenirs, and so are electronic appliances. In response to the increasing number of non-Japanese tourists, it’s recently been carrying more Japanese souvenirs as well. What is good for tourists from overseas is that almost all goods are tax free, and even some other currencies - Dollars (US, Taiwan, Hong Kong), Chinese Yuan, Euro, Korean Won, Thai Baht can be accepted at the store (Only notes are accepted and Japanese yen is given as change). Also, some of the staff can speak several languages, there is a delivery service where you can send your shopping to the airport, and free WiFi, which are all helpful for you.

Inside of the store is a bit small and crowded and goods are not relatively displayed in good order, but let’s try to think it’s a fun part of Japan, and enjoy shopping!

Opening hours: Shibuya: Everyday 10:00 am - 4:30 am
Tips: There is no restrooms and ATM in the building.
Some of other Don Quijote are 24 hours open, and have more floors. Check the official website!
