  • Special Recommendations

Odori literally means “large street”. So when a Japanese speaker hears the name of "Odori Park", their image would be one with crowds and transportation running heavily. Odori Park is in fact a very charming park that attracts many people all year long. It is also a huge event space.

Snow festivals like the Lilac festival, Yosakoi festival, beer garden, October-fest, Munich Christmas markets and so on take place annually at Odori Park.
Odori Park is also a very comfortable place to walk through even if there is no special attraction. In the summer season, there are many corn stalls where you have enjoy some Hokkaido corn.

Odori Park is also a pivot of address in Sapporo which separates the city into Kita(North)and Minami (South).
Tourist information centers are easy to be found, including the one located underground.

Sapporo's heart

  • Sightseeing

Odori Park is located in the heart of Sapporo and is winning the heart of Sapporo citizens. The park divides the city into North and South. Each block has a different character, people seasonally enjoy beautiful flower gardens and green grass. There are 4,700 trees of 92 varieties in the park.

More than 100 years ago the park was originally designed as a fire barrier between the North sector as the administrative district and the South sector as the residential and commercial district. Today the park serves as an oasis for not only office workers and family but also a lot of tourists.

Many events and festivals are held there throughout the year. For example, the park hosts the Sapporo Lilac Festival in May, the Yosakoi Soran dance festival in June, the Beer Garden and Summer festivals in July and August, Sapporo Autumn Fest in September and October, White Illumination in December, and the Snow Festival in February.

You can enjoy a stroll through the park, eating boiled or baked sweet corn sold in Tokibi-wagon stall from late April to the middle of October.

If you want to see the most beautiful scene of the park, go up to the observatory of Sapporo TV Tower in West 1, and you can also enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of the city.
