We stayed for one night and payed extra for breakfast, the room was very well priced at $117 which included a hot breakfast for two, especially for a city location very close to Southern Cross Station. Check in was easy and we used the luggage locker room as we arrived early and wanted to go sightseeing, we booked the Queen room but it was upgraded to a King room which was nice, the restaurant was basic and the service was good and the food quality was excellent, the vegetables could have been more plentiful as my husband only had six very small pieces of roast potato and four sticks of asparagus with his steak, I had the Japanese Chicken schnitzel, the schnitzel was large and tender with a crisp crumb, chips were good but the salad was very small, served with a flavoursome gravy in a small bowl, breakfast was good, it wasn’t help yourself, a server dishes it up and it included bacon, 2 hash browns fried eggs or scrambled, 2 small sausages and baked beans, coffee, tea and juices A few thing to note in ou

Pleasant. Nice staff, room had everything I needed. Great location. I liked the courtyard area. There was parking available in the on-site car park. The breakfast was fine (eggs perfectly poached) and the coffee was good. Check in and check out were easy. Asked at reception for directions and they were simple so follow and accurate. All in all, it was everything I needed. No more, no less.

I always enjoy staying at The Great Southern and this time was no different. I did get a bit of a stiff neck from watching tv and the bed wasn’t as comfy as others I’ve slept in at the hotel but overall an enjoyable experience. The staff on reception are always so pleasant and helpful, they are a pleasure to deal with.

I only booked the room for one night so it was adequate for our needs. It was close to public transport so we were able to get to our event and back safely. I’d recommend it to anyone who has an event in the city and doesn’t want to travel home at night

Booked a single room but hotel upgraded me to a family size room on arrival without requeting it. Spacious, clean, comfortable and all facilities needed were supplied. Would stay there again. Recommend.
