Would definitely recommend if you want to be close to shopping and restaurants. It was so easy to get around everything within walking distance as well. Staff were so friendly and welcoming.

This is a little bargain gem in the middle of San Francisco — just steps from BART, the cable cars on Powell, the shops around Union Square, and nearby sights like Chinatown and the Transamerica building. The rooms are small-ish, but very clean and comfortable (mine had a nice easy chair, a desk and a mini-fridge) and they are also freshly remodeled. They do not have AC, but they have ceiling fans and the windows open (and in SF you only need AC like five days out of the year). And there are nice little touches, like the jar of hard candies in the room, bath salts and a rubber duckie in the bath, and free coffee in the lobby. Would absolutely stay here again.

We have stayed at The Chancellor many, many times. It is a wonderful old hotel, with a friendly staff. The rooms are always neat and clean. Parking is less than one block away, in a safe and secure parking garage with an on-site attendant. The Powell Street Cable Car line is right outside the door to the lobby. Its our favorite San Francisco hotel.

This is a nice hotel in a great location.

Staff was amazing. We arrived early and they got us into a room with no wait. Staff was always friendly. Muni was close by and helpful getting around.

The hotel is just off the Union Square. Room is very clean. There are free foods all day long: apples, cookies and pop corn. And free coffee and tea all day long. Also a machine which purifies water so you can fill up your water bottles any time of the day.

There is a large walk in closet in my room and quite a large fridge.

The room is very clean with comfortable beddings. We stayed for 3 nights. The room was made once during our stay. We did not request for any room service.

I think it is a great value considering the location and timing. Our stay was during the 4th of July holiday.

I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who does not want to spend a fortune.

Good in general terms. Well lo ated

Incredibly comfortable beds!! Wobdwrful front desk staff.

I love this hotel and will stay there every time I am in SF.

The staff was very helpful with storing my luggage when I arrived hours before check-in time. The room I received surprised me with its large size and nice sitting and work areas. Loved it!
