Views from a world known skyscraper

The Umeda Sky Building is a remarkable example of construction engineering: After the twin towers were erected, the unique donut - shaped observatory was assembled on the ground, raised up to 173m, and then fixed in place.

I bought the ticket for ¥800(JPY) at the ticket booth on the 35th floor, and then took the unique tube - shaped escalator to the observatory lounge. It's very spacious and wasn't that crowded as I visited there around 17:00 on a weekday. What I liked about the place was that they have different kinds of the views in each direction. The south side, you'll see city lights form JR Osaka Station and skyscrapers in Nishi Umeda business district. To the West, on the other hand, you'll see a panoramic view of the Yodogawa River, green fields and houses.

Highlights:
I went up to the top of the building, the doughnut shaped open deck observatory "Lumi Sky Walk". There were many people taking pictures. I visited at sunset 18:40, so I walked around the deck, took some pictures, and chatted with other travelers for a while. It wasn't a clear sunny day, yet the sunlight shed red and orange light among the clouds, which was definitely worth visiting! Bonus point, the KUCHU TEIEN Observatory opens till 22:30 (the last admission is 22:00), so you can come visit after dinner.

Tips:
・Multilingual pamphlets available in Chinese, English and Korean.
・The daily time of the sunset is displayed at the ticket booth and Cafe SKY40.
・The observatory deck opens on rainy day. (Yet, umbrella is not allowed to use for your safety.)
・Last admission is 22:00.

Access:
About 10 minute walk from JR Osaka Station, the Central North Exit.

Won’t you have a relaxing time over a cup of coffee while enjoying beautiful Osaka landscape? Umeda Sky Building is the perfect place.

The building is situated within walking distance from JR Osaka station. You can easily point it out by its unique feature of rooftop observatory, “The Floating Garden Observatory”, which provides an unobstructed 360-degree view. You can enjoy walking in the open air observatory feeling breeze and watching blue sky and have a good command of Osaka city including Osaka Castle and Osaka bay involving Awaji Ireland in the Inland Sea.

It consists of two 41-storied towers connected by bridges and a long escalator, which is worth riding on.

The building designed by Japanese architect Hiroshi HARA, was chosen as one of the top 20 most beautiful buildings around the world.
